About Brain Food
Welcome to Brain Food! This is your one stop shop for all things Psychology, human behavior, and stuff I find particularly interesting. Brain Food teaches you about the fascinating psychological concepts that influence your daily life.
I explain sometimes dense and complex psychological phenomena in an easily digestible and accessible way, utilizing research as well as my own experience.
I found that while I was working my first job out of college, I wanted to use more of the critical thinking skills I spent years learning and sharpening in school. I’ve discovered that when I find something interesting I delve into that subject a substantial amount and then feel the need to share those ideas with someone. This is a way for me to keep my brain active through research about topics in psychology, and then share those thoughts with everyone so they too, can have nourishment for the mind.
About Me
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a double minor in Communications and Gender Studies, was a Rehabilitation Counselor for people who have severe mental illnesses, and most recently work as a web developer for a consulting company. I was on the debate team for 4 years in college where we saw much national success (as a team, I was okay). I’ve played the guitar since I was 12 years old but still don’t find myself as good as I feel like I should be. I’m very obsessed with superheroes and all things comic books and their derivative movies/TV shows. I love both dogs and cats, though I’m much more allergic to cats!
I began writing about the things that interest me so that I have a way to communicate my thoughts to as many people at once. I like to incorporate studies and other research that applies to what I'm thinking and writing about because it validates and provides support as well as lets me broaden my research base so I can learn new things.
